I had a hysterectomy at 36. My male doctor, though usually very thorough, was inexplicably vague about the ways my body would be affected. Not only was I flung straight into full menopause but I also experienced side-effects that ranged from basic skin care to intensity of orgasm. I've always wondered why he wasn't more forth-coming with medical information.

#150- from Switzerland
"The emotional sexual and psychological stereotyping of females begins when the doctor says, "It's a girl".
                                           S. Chisholm

I based my uterus flag on Leonardo da Vinci's sketches of a woman's uterus with an embryo. Even though he was considered a medical expert, he believed that our uterus was set up exactly like that of a flower. Forward 500 years later and misconceptions and stereotypes still abound so much so that some women would let a man choose what she should or should not do with hew own body.

The First Shelter of Life

#149- PCOS and my daughter
PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome). I hope that one day doctors in the U.S. will learn how to diagnose and not disregard it. My daughter's PCOS will perpetuate more adverse health issues and will prevent her from experiencing life in her womb.

The uterus is decorated with a chalice

In some interpretations of the legends of Camelot and King Arthur the Holy Grail is , inf act, a return to the womb.

Women are manipulated in the name of 'medical authority".

The whole reproductive system is wonderful.

This project is fantastic. Women need to help each other.
My uterus had issues with fibroids but against medical advice I didn't have a hysterectomy.
The uterus is the fountain of the future. It is the beginning of life; a place for miracles.  #146

Happy Mother's Day

My daughters were one of the first to assist me with this project. Thank you!

This project is very dear to my heart because of my two daughters. I want for them the self-confidence to ask questions, to feel that they deserve the best in this world, and to take their personal health seriously.  I want this project to influence my daughters so deeply that they do not make the same mistake their mother made. Do not have an unnecessary hysterectomy. The adverse effects are numerous.  Read them and see.....http://www.hersfoundation.com/facts.html
To all the daughters in the world I want this.
