#176 - In her Words....Her voice....
Reflection prompt.. What were you thinking when you created your art piece?
" I reflected a lot about the recent violence against women in India (3 very violent rapes that resulted in 2 deaths) that are helping thrust the issue of women's right around the world into the spotlight. It made me think of the power or oppression, joy and sadness, fear or understanding that the uterus represents in all cultures.
Recently I faced opposition from the military [I have been diagnosed with endometriosis].My mother also had a callous doctor say she needs a hysterectomy even though she is only 43 and that if she is done reproducing it serves no prupose to her any longer. It angered her that he would not use laparoscopy to help but resort to an extreme.
