Many women in my extended family have had hysterectomies, so I am curious about how my personal story will grow and change as time goes on. I am a feminist, and I want to further study women's reproductive health after I graduate college. I recently spent a semester studying abroad in Chile, where I conducted research on the discourses of menstruation for women of the middle class. Overall these women felt that menstruation ....was not important in society. ...menstrual taboos are extremely common around the world. I am especially interested in projects that are trying to change this, and to bring positive energy and awareness to women's health.
