DES Daughter

# 69, artwork includes the stitched word diethylstilbestrol, DES, the drug prescribed to pregnant women from 1938 to 1971 to prevent miscarriages.

Her embroidery includes:

Vox (Latin for voice), words, and utera.

Her detail chain stitching shows the level of her craftsmanship. The word utterance is stitched down the center of the uterus.

She is a DES Daughter and at high risk for cervical or vaginal cancer, increased reproductive problems, and possible autoimmune problems.
